MAKALU BASE CAMP TREK 16/21 DAYS
Makalu base camp trek
Day 01: On your Arrival, Nepal Fair Step Trek’s represent will wel- come to you with Garland/Khata and transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: City Sightseeing in Kathmandu (Kathmandu Darbarsqure; historical place and visit to living Goddess Kumari, Pasupatinath and Baudhhanath; famous world heritages sites Hindu temple and Buddha Stupa)
Day03:Fly to Tumlingtar(405m).Trek to Khadbari(1020m) Walking time : 3h,↑450m (Over night Camp)
Day 04:Trek Khandabari – Mani Bhaniyang – Chichila (1880m). Walking time : 6h,↑1190m, (Over night camp )
Day 05:Trek Chichila – Num(1570m). Walking time :6-7h,↑ 540m(Over night camp )
Day 06: Trek Num – Seduwa(1500m). Walking time : 4-5h,↑: 800m,↓800m(Over night camp).
Day 07:Trek Seduwa – Tashigaon(2100m). Walking time : 4-5h,↑620m,(Over night camp).
Day 08:Trek Tashigaon – Khongma Dada(3500m).Walking time : 5-6h,↑ 1420m(Over night camp)
Day 09 :Trek Khongma Dada-Tulu- La – Mumbuk(3540m)Walking time: 5-6h,↑ 800m,↓800m(Over nihgt camp )
Day 10:Trek Mumbuk -Yak Kharka(3550m).Walking time: 4-5h↑ 400m(Over night camp).
Day 11:Trek Yak Kharka – Merek – Shershong(4630m). Walking time: 5-6h↑ 1000,(Over night camp )
Date 12:Hike Makalu Basecamp – Shershong. Walking time : 6-7h↑ 500m↓500m(Over night canp ).
Day 13:Trek Sheshong – Nahe Kharka(3700m). Walking time :5h ,↑300m,↓300m (Over night camp)
Day 14:Trek Nehe kharka -Kongma Dada. Walking time:5-6h,↑600m,↓800m(Over night Camp
Day 15Trek Kongma dada – Murmi dada : 5h,↓1720m (Over night camp)
Day 16:Trek Murmidada- Chhoyang (810m)Walking time : 5-6h↑200m,↓ 600m (Over night Camp )
Day 17:Trek Chhoyang – Bamling (450m).Walking time : 5-6h↑150m,↓ 850m (Over night camp)
Day 18:Trek Bamling – Tumlingtar. Walking time : 6-7h↑200m↓100m(Over night camp )
Day 19: Fly – Tumlingtar – Kathmandu transfer to Hotel.
Day 20: Leisure (If would like to shorter the trek you may depart this day) day in Kathmandu.
Day 21:Transfere to international airport
To be able to submit a cost estimate, we need to know the number of persons in your group, the required hotel category, the favoured mode of transportation (by flight, by local or private transport) and any alternations to your itinerary.
The costs include:
- Airport pickup and drop (domestic and international)
- Hotels: (4/2) star standard hotel including breakfast (according to program in Kathmandu& other places)
- Welcome and farewell dinner
- Sightseeing in Kathmandu (Durbar square, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath)
- Camping/ Lodge Trek’s cost according to program
- Full board during the trek (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
- Government-licensed guide (English speaking or other foreign language speaking on the request)
- Required numbers of porters (1 porter for 2 guests; 12 kg per guest in Tea house trek)
- Sightseeing entry fees /national park/conservation / restricted area permit fees (monasteries, temples, Stupa entrance fees but not the donation.)
- TIMS (Trekker’s Information Management System) permits or peak climbing permit fees (according to your program)
- Climbing Guide/ Sherpa’s climbing charge
- Group First Aid Kits (We recommend to bring your personal first aid kit as well.)
- Trekking equipment; like tents, kitchen -tents and other equipment
- Trekking bag for each guest.
- Staff insurance
- All government taxes and documentation charges
The costs do NOT include:
- International airfare from and to your country
- Nepal visa fee: USD $40 for 30 days
- Travel & Health Insurance – Emergency Helicopter Rescue Insurance (Most recommended)
- Any meals (lunch &dinner) in Kathmandu – $ 10 to 15 for per meal in tourist restaurant (except welcome and farewell dinner)
- Any kinds of drinks (alcohol &non-alcoholic beverage) neither during the trek nor in Kathmandu
- Tips for staff (not mandatory but expected)
- Hot shower, recharging of batteries (available during the trek with extra cost or free on spot)

- Selection of dry bags (to keep trek bag contents dry)
- 5 season sleeping bag
- Washbag and toiletries
- Antibacterial hand wash
- Small Towel
- Small padlock (to lock trek bag)
- Basic First Aid Kit including; Broad spectrum antibiotic, antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters (band-aids) and blister treatment, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite).
